Thank you everyone for the kind comments. I've been going through the day like a complete zombie, can't bring myself to eat.

Furbie was like my child, I decided when I was a kid that I never wanted human children.

The worst thing is that the day before it happened I was having some personal problems and when I held Furbie all the problems seemed to go away. I said "No matter what happens at least I'll have you for lots of years to come," to him...

I know its not my fault but I feel like I betrayed him, or broke my promise. I know it sounds stupid..

I am so sorry for your loss. Pets become our best friends who make us laugh and keep us company through the good times and bad. It's hard when they leave us. Furbie had a good life; I can tell from your posts here that you really loved him. It may not be much consolation, but at least it was over quickly and he didn't feel any pain, or die from sickness or disease. And like pomlover2586 said, you'll see him again!

I'm so sorry about Furbie! I lost my little man (14 yr old parrotlet named Mu) last December to what the doctors think was heart disease. I had two weeks to "prepare" and hope the heart medicine we got compounded for him would work. He would have a down day, then the next he would be almost normal, then bad, then good. He passed away in my arms on Christmas eve. I was completely devesitaed. Yes, it's completely normal to feel this devastated. I will still cry over him. I knew I eventually wanted another bird, but also knew I could not get another parrotlet. I got to bring my new baby home last weekend (a pineapple green cheek) and the new baby has actually helped me. So, yes it gets better. But it still takes time, and I will still cry over loosing Mu. There are some very good posts on this thread. I agree you did NOTHING wrong! Allow yourself to grieve and ignore those that don't understand.

I took my mother to Myrtle Beach SC for Mother's Day. Even though my daughter was here I set up extra feeders and waterers as well as cereal and grains. I figured they were good for a week and with all the other critters in the house they would not even know I was gone.

We came back Wednesday night. Lemone' was dead in the bottom of the play cage. Other than being depressed over loosing :greycockatiel: Twinkle there was nothing wrong with him when I left.

:pied: Lemone' was a beautiful sweet boy. I loved him dearly. He was the shy one that needed extra loving. Loosing two of my babies in the matter of a couple months I am really down. I can't take it any more.

I kept Baby Bindi to be a buddy for Lemone'. I am not getting another for a companion for Bindi. I am going to rehome her as soon as possible.

I was so afraid that I would die and leave them that I never considered that they would leave me.

Oh Liz, I'm so so sorry for your loss :( I've seen from your posts and comments here how much you care for your flock, it's so hard losing a baby. My thoughts are with you and your birdies <3

I have decide to rehome baby Bindi.
I can't remember exactly how old Sweetie is. I think I got her in 2001 so she has a few years on her and by the grace of God she should be around for another 10 at least.
My critters are in my will for my son to rehome after I die. I trust him to do his best. He is a lot like me. If I loose one of the existing of a pairs I have decided to replace it with an older breeder bird to keep the ages about the same. It will save a breeder from being worn out and I have tamed wild tiels before. Shadow and Lemone' came to me wild from a breeder who had too many and sold them to me for $10. I went through another person who knew the breeder and the conditions. I gave her the money and she brought me the two boys.
Anyway - that's my plan.

Aww no that is so awful, I am actually crying reading your story cos when I think about losing buddy or Jack it breaks my heart!! Uve just gotta think that I bet he had a lovely life with u, it was an accident and nothing u could have done about it, they are curious little things so nothing would have stopped him flying towards ur mum! I feel like I am on 24/7 watch with buds cos he wants to explore everywhere, hes like a little child! Theres nothing I can say which will make u feel better, I think it just takes time to grieve, just remember all the nice memories u have and hopefully u have a lots of nice pictures!! Take care, thinking of u xxxx
