Houdini --mystery solved

Postby marie83 » Sat Jul 07, 2012 2:58 am

Well Ollie has learned how to get out of his cage. It's happened twice now, once I was actually in the room at the time.
What I don't get is how he is actually doing it. His door is 100% closed and locked, his feeders would have to be knocked out and unlocked to get through that way and his bottom tray is slid in correctly. Sooo confused.

What is the bar spacing? If you have a GCC the spacing should be no larger that 5/8". Anything bigger and he can just slide through.

He can't fit his head through the bars never mind anything else, the bar spacing is 1.2cm and they are too sturdy to bend cuz I've tried.

Soooo this morning Ollie decided to show me how he has been getting out.

So he has learned to push and rattle the food pot so the lock on the hatch slips, push his food pot halfway out, crawl into the pot, underneath the bar and back out and as he is climbing out knocks the seed pot back inside, at which point the lock slowly slips back into place after about 15 mins so it looks like he can't possibly have escaped that way........

Wish I had a video camera to show you all.
