So I acquired an Alexandrine. His name is Bro, but I tell people his name is Link if I think they're gonna roll their eyes.
He hatched March 27 and is taking things very slowly. Hasn't shown much of a personality yet. He's flighted (yay!) and hovers around. So far he's really good at flying into walls in slow motion. He hasn't really stuck the landing thing yet, even though he's had a lot of practice flying at the bird store. He's also very clumsy and can't decide if he likes being petted or not.
So far he only has two annoying habits. The first is he's beaking, which is to be expected. He nibbles on everything, including fingers, and his beak is so much stronger than an IRN. He actually broke off a piece of coconut shell. Secondly, when I brought him home he started making a wheezing sound. My roommate joked that he was having asthma, and that's when it clicked for me. At the store he was in a room with 4 blue headed pionus, and they were his flying buddies in the flight schedule. I watched some YouTube videos and Bro mimics them perfectly.
