Rodney - Is he going through puberty or just forgotten me?

Postby nuttyone1 » Tue Aug 14, 2012 2:22 pm

Awww my poor boy :amazon: is seriously pouting with me. I had to go away for a week (my daughter got married) and left him in the very capable hands of my friend who moved into my house rather than disrupt rodders again...since i have come back he seems to have forgotton who I am :(, at least to me anyway. He has been a lot quieter, and although he takes treats and will target once or twice he generally ignores me.....I am gutted...

Also he seems to be moulting left right and centre with tiny white fluffy feathers all over the place and today there were 2 small green ones ( i say small they seem to look like his smaller wing feathers). He is about 4 and reading through the forum this is when he reaches maturity...is this a reason? Am I just dealing with a stroppy pubescent bird or has he forgotton who I am?
I have been very patient with him and have spent many hours over the last 4 days sitting next to him and talking to him. Shall I just continue from where we left off or do I start from scratch if he has forgotton me. If it is puberty (for want of a better word) is there anything special I should be doing? I would so love our relationship to get back to normal...

My guess is he hasn't forgotten but is not very pleased that you left for so long.

I'm going to have to leave Nika for a week when I go on vacation and my guess is she is not going to be very happy with me when I come back. :/ Keep us apprised because I'm going to have to do the same things.

well Rodney :amazon: is speaking to me again at long last, it has taking nearly a week of cajouling and coaxing but he is now back to where we left off. I didn't realise we could be so attached to each other after just 2 months that it would have been an issue for him. I am now not looking forward to january when i go away for 2 weeks although mu oh will be here rather than a friend.

So I have to say as long as your paitent, give them time to forgive you for leaving them they do come round although lots of their fave treats (apple in rodneys case) does help. so for now its back to training and continuing to build our relationship up

I just returned from a week long trip. Chico showed his displeasure by being more aggressive toward small hand held devices and my feet. After a day of some TLC he has forgiven me and is back to normal.
