Do you have a favorite bird out of your flock? :3

Postby AlbertaAviary » Tue Aug 21, 2012 10:16 pm

C'mon, don't lie! I myself am the proud owner of 2 wonderful budgies. I love them with evrything I have to love. However.. there is one that I have to say, I love more.

Out of the 2 that I have, Yoshi is my favorite. I guess it's because he puts up with more, he's more playful, he's curious, I've had him longer, and he gives me kisses.

I love Cocoa very much too but she gets easily irritated, she wil not put up with any BS, she never plays, and isn't adventurous. However, there are many good things about her that I will now list so that it doesn't sound like I hate her. She's fluffy, she cuddly, she lets me pet her, she's quiet, she could ride on my shoulder all day, and it often seems like she's posing for my camera!

Anyways, Yoshi is my favorite but I love Cocoa too. Do you have a favorite bird out of the birds you own?

No I don't, I love them both the same but for different qualities as they both have good and bad points.

Some people have commented (not on here) that I favour Ollie my green cheek over Harlie the 'tiel but that is just not true. Ollie just comes up more because he is much much tamer and I can do more with him, he is always getting into mischief so there are plenty of stories. Harlie is quieter and reserved but also flightly and only semi tame which means there is much less to talk about unless people wanted to hear the same things over and over again.

Thats not to say I don't have different emotions over them though and act differently towards them. I worry alot more about Harlie, although she is bigger, she seems alot more delicate than Ollie. I have to move more slowly and speak a bit quieter to her. I don't have to be as careful around Ollie, I can give him more to do because I know he wont freak out. I can give him loads of attention all in one go where as Harlie prefers short bursts throughout the day.

I treat them as individuals, not as a product of a hierarchy of favouritism, although I can see why people think I prefer Ollie it isn't true.

Only have one!
So...nope.

Mind you---Jacko hasn't always been an only bird. She is now because she made it damn clear that she would not tolerate anything else.
When I had Sully (my tiel) I loved them both very much, again for different reasons because they were different birds but never one more than the other.
I did get frustrated with one of them when the other was out (because they didn't get along) and I'd think 'if only you (Jacko/Sully) weren't here then there wouldn't be such problems and I could give (the other bird who was out at the time) all they needed'.

But I wouldn't call that favourites as much as just being frustrated with the situation.
Jacko is like my firstborn and the bond we share is very close, but I also love and appreciate each of my scalie kids too.

As Said before when having several birds the attention given might be somewhat different and in different ways. I currently have four while the small ones doesn't get as much attention when it comes to training and they generally just come by out of curiosity when fiddling with something I still love them as much as the Polarn and Gila. Polarn demands tons of attention and while not constantly on top of me he is constantly around if I move he moves. Gila still is in quarantine and were still working on trust and she seems to prefer me not touching her more than taking her in or out of the cage, she isn't flighted so require some help, hopefully she will regain flight couse she jump off things and try and she tries from the floor as well, so she is bound to low items and I can't allow her climbing the outside of her cage, hence I can't have her ladder there for her to go in and out on her own. She does however occationally climb up on your lap or chest when your laying on the floor talking to her.

So no doesn't really have any favorites but as stories go mishaps clumsiness accidents etc the amazon is by far the one producing the most of them.

This is like asking someone if they love one of their kids more than the others. I have 4 birds and all of them are quite different. Although 1 may be more personable and enjoys interaction with me more than the others, I love the uniqueness of every one of them as individuals. Even my 2 GCCs are quite different and they're the same species. One of them loves a lot of attention and loves to cuddle. The other enjoys playing hide and seek with my husband every night after dinner, which is a lot of fun to watch but she is not a cuddler. My amazon is so amusing and is quite the comedian and my WBC is a great trick artist and has tons of personality.

Honestly, if I were forced to choose to give 1,2, or 3 away and just keep 1 I wouldn't be able to do it.
