Are your birds scared of thunderstorms?

Thunderstorms actually seem to calm Cocoa down. If there is really loud thunder or a bright flash of lightning, she looks around for a second then settles. If its raining outside loudly, she seems quite content. Seems like she likes storms A bit.

My other bird, Yoshi, always wants to go outside when there's a storm. sometimes we stand on the deck together and watch storms. He chirps and sings and dances around happily. Sometimes he even takes a little natural shower!

How do your birds react to big storms?

My birds are afraid of very little. If there is a loud thunder clap that startles them they will squak but get over it right away. Myrtle pays more attention to it but I think it is because she listens close to all noises. She is such a baby. The world is so exciting to her.

Ramey is the only dog afraid of storms. He was a foundling so we don't know his backround. My Fancy cat is 15 and has become afraid of most everything. These two come to me in a storm.

None of mine have ever been afraid of thunderstorms, but we hardly get any here and they are never big, generally over within a few minutes.

We don't usually get thunderstorms over here, but we got one yesterday and ladu seemed fine. He was a little bit startled at first but calmed down after a while and then he was fine.

My Congo African Grey, Aziza, has a tendency to tense up for a bit when a thunderstorm hits, but then she calms down.

My cockatiel always loved storms...he would insist on staying at the window and would press his beak to the glass to watch the show. He would chirp and dance after every big gust of wind, clap of thunder, or flash of lightning. Meanwhile, both of my dogs would be hiding under the sofa. Weebo would know when a storm was coming hours before it began and would sing and watch the window intently as the clouds gathered. I wonder if he would have been so keen had he been a wild bird...he was the only bird I've known that hated water!
