I think the scratches are helping him loads as i have noticed he also has a lot of new feathers coming through bless him, and loves scratches around his (not so much anymore) porcupine area....
Rodders is also saying mammys boy when he wants out of cage and like the softy (and if I am able) I totally let him out at this point.
We are still working on the trusting my hands totally, but now he will step up onto my arm, although only if i have a treat ready for him...apple and blueberries being his fave at mo...
So our relationship is growing stronger and stronger and I can tell every time he wants to be left alone to play/pout/rest and have not been nipped or bitten at all since the first initial testing...he does however like to nibble my clothes and hair when he sits with me so old clothes are a must around him.
He is also more patient with the rest of the family and will happily accept treats from them although he still won't let them stroke him..
Rodneys and shebas (my collie) are also getting on well and Rodney will let her get close to him when he is on the perch/my chair and near me. Im sure he knows i will protect him although sheba runs from him if he shouts at her 'bed'.
So i guess i was lucky finding this forum, as using advice from here I have understood how to build trust, respect and train my little monkey of an amazon, learn when he has a moult and how to deal with it and he has learnt to trust me, and in a relatively short period of about 3 months..will keep you posted on our progress..
