Willis is a FEMALE..uh oh!

Postby Karma » Sat Nov 10, 2012 12:38 pm

During our last vet visit we decided to have our macaw and grey sexed! Willis, the macaw who we have been referring to as a boy, is actually a female. Gosh, he knows his name....how are we going to get used to calling him a her and what are we going to do about the name? He is 6 months
old...rather find out now instead of hurting her feelings for many years by calling her a he....lol! Scratches, the African grey, is a girl....which is what we have referred to all along.

I like willow, it isn't a drastic change for her either.
When we discovered Harley was female we just kept the name but changed the spelling to Harlie.

Jacko I thought was a male for many many years.
Untill...she wasn't.

I just kept her name as Jacko, because that's who she is. I mean, my name is Sammael, which is technically a man's name---but I'm female-bodied.

We considered Willow as an option, and I like it. Jim calls her Willis Elaine so he is thinking about keeping her name and calling her Elaine more than calling her by Willis. When she is getting into something that she shouldn't, he calls her by the Willis Elaine! Also, when we said "she" we knew that we were referring to Scratches, our :gray: and when we were referring to "him" we were talking about our :macaw:. Now we have two "her"s, ha ha!

A while ago I've noticed that my :senegal: doesn't really like red nailpolish. He attacked some of my friends' fingers when they had their nails red but he was really friendly when they removed the nailpolish.
One time I was sitting on my bed when Kura decided to fly down from his cage (we bought him with clipped wings, but we want him to fly, so we won't be clipping them in future) and toddle in my way. He wasn't able to get on the bed yet (it was a few months ago), so he usually climbed up my laptop's power cord or I used to put my leg down, so he could climb up my pijama pants or any other trousers I had on :)
