So after a few weeks of working at it I make him show his wings 2 - 4 times (at random) before he gets a treat. Here is a better video:

I have heard people say brown-headed parrots are "plain" (and I even saw one person here once say they were "ugly") but I don't think people realize how bright their green plumage is or that some of the feathers on their brown head shine and reflect the light, which you can see in the video. :-)

Aw all parrots are pretty but with the duller colours, lighting makes all the difference to the birds appearence. Ollie looks twice as colourful sat in the sunlight by the window as he does in the back corner of the room.

Love it! That lateral stretch is just lovely! Well done to you and Jimmy - who is definitely not plain or ugly, what a handsome bird!

Oh gosh, you're both amazing! :D

I love Brown heads, I can't imagine why anyone would find them ugly. My (okay, he belonged to my parents) first parrot was a BH, they're really beautiful! I imagine it's hard to really catch the beautiful shine on camera, though, so I think while they're really handsome in photos, they're even more beautiful in real life! ^_^

excellent work with your Brown headed parrot! looks so cute doing this trick! :)

i agree with the others - I find brown headed parrots beautiful, even when theres no light shining on them. their green chest is quite dazzling, and their big sweet-looking pretty eyes and that cute little black smudge on the front of their beaks makes them look so adorable. :)

Thanks for all the comments and video views! Jimmy and I appreciate it! :-)

I am just so proud of him because as I said at the start of this thread, I can't touch him so I think it's really neat that he'll spread his wings on cue. He doesn't fly, either (I am working on that) so I'm also excited that I can get him to work his wings and his chest muscles by getting him to stretch repeatedly throughout the day.

Yes, they have huge, pretty eyes! I tell Jimmy every day that he I think he has the cutest bird face. His eye color in the sunlight is amazing, it looks just like liquid mercury. Years ago I was browsing birds on PetFinder and when I saw a picture of Jimmy and his big old eyes I instantly fell in love and I called the rescue and said, "Please tell me you still have Jimmy!"
