Seed spillage extravaganza!

Postby Eric&Rebecca » Fri Feb 15, 2013 2:40 pm

So yesterday my partner dropped a whole sealable container full of the seed mix we use for both birds.... Massive spillage!

However the thing I noticed first was not my boyfriend's swearing but the squeaky, banging and head bobbing of our tiel who was pacing frantically back and forward and head bobbing and singing with excitement. At one point he was actually jumping up and down with excitment!

He was like SEEEEDS SEEEEDDDDS everywhere! Thank GOD it wasn't the pellets, those are expensive

That's pretty hilarious, but utterly annoying. Hopefully you don't have carpeting. I imagine that would make it much harder to clean. :]

Haha, I've done that too, only the birds were in their cages and the rabbit chose to help himself whilst I was in the kitchen getting something to clear it up. I put him in his cage as soon as I realised because he was eating everything including the husks.

He was just going utterly mental! I think its coz they were on the floor and being a ground forager he probably just wanted to roll in it!

If someone threw a truck load of assorted chocolates in front of me I'm sure I wouldn't know what to go after first either... :)

thats really funny :)

i spilt honey down myself because i held the jar in my weeker hand and i had a mustle spasm so my sister was calling me Honey PANTS! for a month i was careful not to handle the parrot until after i got changed however.
:D
i store seed in crock lock storage contaners so that i can put it in the freezer but i always end up throwing a bit way because it comes in one kg bags and the contaners arent big enough. plus i only have a small freezer i get seed locally from a pershop but order pellets online.

i regularly spill seed everyehere becuase my parrot makes me jumb my flying to the back of my whelchair and throwing herself at me when i open the crocklock container.

fortunately my careers help me hoover the floor but i have a wool carpet which is a nightmare werse than a molting dog lol

It must be catching - I spilled a huge bag of sunflower seeds today (for the wild birds...and a few for the indoor not very wild birds). It's that slow motion thing where you watch the bag slowly tip and the contents gracefully cascade....well.....EVERYWHERE!
No birds were around to avail themselves of the bounty though and the dog isn't that keen on sunflower seeds

Note to self...get a rabbit to hoover up messes.

In a fit of creativity or boredom I once poured a pint can of seed onto my tiel's play table and just let him go wild in it. He went wading like he was at the beach in birdie heaven. I guess our birds are just like us...a grand buffet strikes joy in the heart!
