Greetings

Postby Congo » Thu Jul 29, 2010 10:12 pm

Hi,

I have had 4 parakeets. 3 budgies and one eastern rosella. 2 of my budgies and my Eastern Rosella have died but I still have my green clear-wing male budgie Nur which means light. I had the birds that have died for about 7-8 years. I got my Eastern Rosella from one of my Moms associates and bought the other 3 budgies from the inspiration of my Eastern Rosella whose name was Congo. The other 2 budgie's names were Sky, a sky blue budgie and Tweety, a light blue budige.
By the way, I was wondering if anybody could tell me where to get another Eastern Rosella? By the way I live in Canada, Ontario so could anybody tell me any stores that sell them. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

I don't know any breeders specifically that do Rosella but I'm sure that there are a few listed on the breeders list.

I saw some " Rosellas " don't know if it's the kind your looking for, on Kijiji Montreal. Don't know if your close enough to drive. Look for a city near you on Kijiji, you might find some.

Here's one I saw. There are two other kinds, I think, besides this one.

Ummmm, aren't these the same species? In the USA, we use the word "parakeet"--in the UK, they use the word "budgie." But it's the same bird. Or am I missing something...?

No, this person's use of the term parakeet is correct. He said that he had owned 4 parakeets, 3 of which were budgies and the other parakeet was a Rosella. This is similar to saying you own 4 parrots: 3 Senegal Parrots and an African Grey. Parakeet is a classification of parrots that are small and have long tails. Budgerigar refers to a specific species of parakeet.
