Hello From Georgia

Postby Cheeks and Keets » Tue Mar 19, 2013 9:53 am

Hi! I've actually signed up on here twice but was banned for spam for some odd reason. I am not spam! I think it's because I posted pics or links on my first post. Is there any way to un ban me so I can use my old email address? Anyway, I am owned by 4 green cheeks and a n Indian ringneck. I will post pics when ever this board realizes I'm not spam lol.

Hello and welcome. :-) Your birds are very beautiful; what kind of mutations are they?

I have a GCC, too, and he is my best friend in the world but if I had 4 GCCs I think I would go nuts. Haha

Mylo is a yellow sided, Turtle is a cinnamon, and Baxter and Cotton are Pineapples. Theyre not that bad lol. They arent that loud either, just at night they all make noise or when they want to come out Turtle throws a fit. Theyre a lot of fun though, when they all come out its like a conure tornado lol. They have theyre own facebook page called Crayon Conures with more pics of everyone. I may be getting another pineapple baby this week, not sure yet tho.

That's cool that you have different kinds of mutations. They are all so pretty and colorful! My conure isn't loud, either, but he does scream sometimes when he wants out of his cage (which I ignore because it's really loud and I don't want to reinforce it). He gets let out when he's quiet.

He's a very good bird but he is demanding and really active and I don't think I could keep up with 4 of him! For one thing I don't have enough shoulders or hands because he always wants to cuddle or get head scratches.

I often wish he had a GCC friend and if I knew for a fact that he would get along with another GCC I would get one in a heartbeat! However, he is a bully and bullies my Poi (who is twice his size) so I have my doubts that he would get along with another conure. Since I can't be 100% sure he'd be friends with another GCC I've ruled out adopting a second one.

GCCs are great birds, though; they are super hilarious. :gcc: A "conure tornado"---I can only imagine!

welcome to the forum! :)

your GCCs are so adorable!!! :gcc: :gcc: :gcc: :gcc: :)

a conure tornado - that's a cute phrase - I have a GCC too and he sometimes buzzes around my head trying to find a place to land (he's not allowed to land on shoulders currently as part of his off-the-shoulders training) and it certainly sounds like a weather system - now, to think of four little GCCs buzzing around at the same time! sounds just way too cute!! I would love to see videos of the little fellows in action - I love watching flock behavior in birds.

I too have considered adopting another GCC for my GCC (my GCC tolerates my Bourke, but is not really "best buddies" with him the way he probably would be with another GCC. they do some things together (they will fly together and hang out about twelve inches away from each other, closest) but they do not, for example, preen each other. Like Andromeda, I'm also a bit concerned about whether my GCC will tolerate another GCC, but I have heard of adult GCC's being successfully introduced to each other very gradually and systematically. so its something I may try in the future, if I can time it such that I can also get my Bourke a grasskeet buddy at the same time.

anyway, looking forward to seeing your flock on the forum!

They all liked their own kind immediately, BUT they can and will attack other birds. They gang up on my ringneck who is twice their size and chase him off all of the time. Turtle took right to Mylo and Cotton as babies, then I adopted Baxter as an adult and he just fit right on in with the other 3 like they'd known each other for ever. They all like baby birds until the baby is big enough for them to realize baby is not a conure lol. Its crazy how they know what birds are their own species even if they have never met another in their whole life. I think if yall get another green cheek it would more than likely be fine. Its other species that will probably not work out.

I wish I could get a video of the conure tornado. They all fly around the room in a big circle and all together so it is literally a conure tornado lol. When they come down stairs they all follow each other as fast as they can through the big rooms then land huffing and puffing like they just had a good work out. My ringneck.....is a not so graceful flyer. He is awkward and clumsy and a horrible lander and has crappy control lol.
