Hello and I am excited to learn more!

Postby BLB8313 » Fri May 03, 2013 10:29 pm

Our household does not currently have a bird but we are in the process of working with a rescue and foster/adopting a Jenday Conure! He is two years old and aside from a lot of fat in his blood from an all seed diet prior to coming to the rescue he is in great health! I'd actually have him now but we just bought a new house and are moving in the next few weeks. So the rescue and I decided to wait until we are in our new house before bringing him home!

About my house I have my partner who is going for his MD and I am a mostly stay at home mother with our 2 year old and our 6 year old is just finishing Kinder in the next few weeks!

The rescue has him on a really good pellet/veggie mixture and she makes about a months worth at a time for all of her birds and freezes it, so I will get enough for about a month but then she said before I run out she tell me where to order from and she come over to assist in learning to make my own stash!

I plan on clicker training him as he is slightly hand shy but will step up on a perch so I think some confident and calm training sessions after he gets home will do him well!

I am really excited about learning more!

Sounds like you are having a great month! Congrats on your new house, your daughter's graduation from Kindergarten (Big step! She must be so proud!) and your new Conure! Do you have a picture yet?

No each time I have visited him at the rescue I am too busy interacting with him to care about a picture, but he is bird standard of what a Jenday looks like, LOL.

That's so nice they are keeping him for you. We are just looking for a house to rent for the next year and I stayed up so late looking online tonight. I just stopped to look around and wow, I do not know what I will do with Emmi when we move everything over. Lol She will be hurting for attention and a little stressed for sure. Hopefully we can do it all in one day.

When we moved to our new appartment about 1.5 years ago, I moved Stitch to my mother's. He lived there for 3 days, during which we did most of the packing, moving and getting the new place ready and such. I think that's the least stressful way of doing it, because when moving house, there's sooo much stuff going on!
