New Owner

Hello people
I am a mother to a 14 year old African Grey parrot named Max. I have had Max for a week now and so dearly want to form a bond with him. He was handed to me by some dear friends whom have developed an allergy to feathers. After a lot of tears he was offered to me. I am a 37 year old female and work full time. Max is snappy and won't let me touch him. I would truly appreciate any guidance on how to train him to become more accommodating and friendly. I adore the little man and do hope that in the future we can form a strong bond.

I am glad you have come across theparrotforum - i have learned so many helpful things in this community! Although I do not have experience with grey's, i know trust will take it's time and patience will be needed. You will find many great tips on here - I wish you the best of luck and look forward to hearing about your progress! Please upload some pics of Max if possible in the personal section, we'd love to see him!

he previous post is right. taking your time is the best way to build trust and a strong bond. just let him come to you when he's ready.
