Welcome to the parrot forum. You've come to the right place for help (be sure to write an intro in the Introduction section and tell us about yourself and your bird). Your bird is still very young so it's not much of a problem and pretty easy to fix right now. Letting it go too long will make it harder to solve though.

Here are a few free resources to help get you started:

And my new book, a complete approach to parrot keeping (includes a lot on solving biting problems)

If it's a one time thing, don't get too hung up on it. As long as it's not becoming more frequent, it's best to forget about it. If it's happening more often, it's very important to retame and change strategy. Regardless, it is still best to employ taming and training techniques to ensure tameness in the future.

I too am a new bird owner of a green cheek conure (Peaches) she too is a very loving bird . I have read not to let the bird on your shoulder because it shows dominance. That is one thing I don't do. My peaches will bite when I try to make her do something she doesn't want to do or if I approach her to fast without talking to her first!

Hi Jennc
Unfortunately, I have already let him do soo.... He loves to noozle and coo at me. I think that night he bit me eally hard that I had pushed him too far and he just letting me know. I have changed the way I handle him, and he hasn't bitten really hard since, when he gets nippy he gets to go back in his cage...
