Six weeks old is awfully young, a breeder shouldnt be selling birds at that age, you should be syringe feeding him and does he have a nest of some sort, fleece maybe, something that would be similar. Training as such would be far to early at this age. Ive never syringe fed before but im sure someone else on this forum has more information to give you.

I could be wrong on this, but a 6 week old keet is much more mature at that age then lets say a senegal.. in the wild keets are ready to breed in 60-90 days after birth!! I say keep playing with him out of the cage, he will learn that you are a safe place.. Good luck!!! :amazon: :senegal:

Breeding 60 to 90 days after birth? What are we talking about here, birds or insects? Not even finches are ready to breed so soon after birth! They are bred on their second season, same as budgies so yes, he is still a baby and make no mistake about it. Lovebirds, which are just a little bit bigger than budgies don't even come out of the nest until they are about three months old and don't get their adult plumage until they are two years old. So, yes, he needs to have three kinds of soft food offered twice a day, daily, he needs to be kept warm and stress free, and he needs a couple of more months to feel secure enough so he will not shy from you. Don't rush things and mess up the poor baby, take your time and let him grow and figure things out on his own.

That said it is pretty common in this country for budgies to be sold at 6-8 weeks when really they would benefit from being sold on later. That doesn't really help you at the moment though but something to bare in mind for the future. Sounds like you already have a good start if the birds fairly tame, follow Pajaritas advice for now though and if your still struggling in a couple of months we will be able to give you some advice to help you.
