Hi all my name is ashley and i resently purchased a lutino indian ringneck. She is doll and very beautiful, her name is chickie. (might change her name lol) Anywho,Today will be her 4th day inside my home. Her previous owner said she was the one who tamed her down and I could tell because chickie and her really shared a bond! She would bend down for her owner to touch her head, rub on her owner and literally had to be right there with her. All her previous owner said was you will love her! she wants to be with you at all times and do everything with you.

Excited I brought her home let her rest inside her cage for a day or so. Then brought her out and put her on her stand above her cage. Her body language screams I dont like you, wheres that other lady, go away. Chickie isnt big on treats or at least she just wont take them from my hands. Some times i will try and have step up and she gives me warning bites so I immedently respect her and walk away. She is very quiet. Sometimes when she steps up on my fingure she flaps her wings super fast like she excited or upset. She doesnt want to hang out with me, She only wants me when she wants out of the cage lol!

I know its only her 4th day but are things that i should be doing to strengthen our future bond now. I would try trick training but shes just not into treats, her previous owner said the same "she really doesnt care for treats really only you is what shes concerned about"

***I have onwer parrots before mostly rescues and both were conures, My conures well lets just say for us it was love at first site...lol no training needed there, it was natural lol. I know ringnecks and conures are super different though so....help?

I have no personal experience with IRNs but all my birds came from somebody/where else and it seems to me that you are rushing things. I never try to interact with them so soon, I wait until they let me know they want the interaction. I let them out by opening their cages, I don't ask them to step up or put them anywhere, I let them decide on their own. I talk, sing, give them treats and wait. With the friendly ones that were not really neglected, I don't need to wait too long but I have some that I've never been able to establish a relationship even though they had one with their previous owner - everything depends on the individual bird. Most likely, she is mourning the loss of her human...
