Our little family includes me, Lin, my partner, and our two girls: Tikku and Kikuyu, both Fisher's lovebirds.
Tikku is our first one, and the boss of us all. She landed in our place about 3 years ago (we assume she is at least 4 yo), after changing hands a couple of times, getting really sick and losing her first partner. Nonetheless she is a bold, outgoing, attention seeking, excitable clown. She's untame (and a biter) yet friendly and loving towards us both, though more bonded with me. We had started training her (and she was responding well) before our second one got added to the family, but found the situation too complicated afterwards.
Kikuyu is our little one and our little problem case. She (we assume but are unsure about her sex) is a two year old Fisher's lovebird. We rescued her when she was about a month and a half old from a really bad situation, horrible malnutrition and a number of infections. She was severely traumatized, missing half a toe and displayed all sorts of weird behaviors. She is still a scaredy cat and very very shy, but after two years she is slowly starting to calm down and be more trusting towards us, especially towards my partner.
The two spent almost a year apart due to all the illnesses but are now mates, and we finally decided that our lil one is well enough and feels safe enough that we can stop worrying about recurring health problems and start training them. So here we are.
Anyway, sorry about the lengthy intro, I rarely find a chance to rant about my girls and tend to leap to the chances I'm given.
I'm looking forward to meeting you all. Oh and pics coming soon!
