Howdy

Postby Wolf » Tue Nov 05, 2013 6:06 pm

I am Wolf and this is my first time here.
I have a 4 yr. old Senegal female who just showed up one day at my home in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the northwest corner of North Carolina. I have had her for about a year now, never thought that I would ever have a bird, but Kiki, the Senegal, arrived and needed a home as she could not survive here on her own. She has taught me a lot and I love her dearly. I did eventually find out where she came from, but it was not a good place for her so she is here for as long as she wants.
I recently received a 11 yr. old Congo African Grey female who also needed a home. The people who gave her to me got her from a broken home and the previous owners did not want her and so she had some people issues. The people, I got her from could not deal with her as she would not accept them and would stay in a corner of her cage shaking in fear and tearing her feathers out. She attacked everyone who came near her, so she was offered to me. I could not refuse to try to give her a home. Her name is Kookoolooo , and it was love at first sight, I think. I pulled up and Kookooloo started screaming as soon as she saw me, She hopped right up on my hand, and away we went. It only took about 4 minutes to get home and put her in her new house, and go wash the blood off my arm from her toenails, she held on so tightly. She has come a long way since then. She is a changed bird. She is relaxed, her feathers are starting to grow back, she sings most of the time. She is the happiest bird that I have ever seen, and she is beginning to accept other people a bit. I have had her for about 4 Months, and I am so proud of her progress.
I have a lot to learn yet but I listen to the birds to learn as well as a lot of reading. I hope to learn a lot more from your experiences as well as sharing mine. I have 3 dogs, 6 cats, and 2 birds, I am disabled, 59, and we all live in the same house and everybody gets along with everybody for the most part. I do keep a close watch on everyone, especially with the birds walking and flying about.

Thanks and that is pretty much all about us, hop I did not bore anyone too much. Again Thanks.
