me and my pet

Postby johnsuresh » Tue Nov 26, 2013 12:59 am

Hi our members,
My name is S.John, Male, Age 52, Indian, staying in Kuwait
I bought a male Indian Ring-neck Parrot a month ago from a pet shop. No idea about his age but he is not that much younger or older. Anyhow within a month, I could teach him step-up command, hand feed, hand rear etc. (is it necessary the 'step-down' command also?)
But still he is not friendly with me, still frightened and not making any sound?. But he is eating and drinking minimum and when we kept him in quadrangle he makes nonstop sounds. And the other pity is he only eating sunflower seeds. I give different types of fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds but nothing he want to try.
Here I just want to know the time duration of training. Each session approximately how many seconds long? and how many session in one day we can take?
From the end of his (long) tail 1 inch broken and go off. I hope it will grow up again. Isn’t it?
If anyone kindly give me a reply it will be highly appreciated.
Thanking you

Hi John Suresh sb actually Indian Ring necks parakeets are not for every one.It means they do not fully depend on their owners. They also build a very strong relation ship with a one person who they trust.
Give him a good time, give him treats like give him grapes, apple piece or bread by your hands. So he may come to know you care about him.
Another thing your bird only likes sun flower seeds.Sun flower seeds in large quantity are not good as they contain plenty of fats which effects the normal coloration of the feathers. In the start mix small amount of other grains.then gradually increase the ratio of the other grains after two weeks interval.Don,t change feed suddenly.
He is new to your home with passage of time he will become normal.Once in past i changed my home.My IRN stopped talking & playing in the new home. Then after two months they started again.Mitto kehna be chod diya tha magar phir shoro kar diya.
If any other question please do ask.
