I'm a new member of the Parrot Forum! I'm glad to have the resource to ask questions about my parrot's behavior, diet, etc....and read all the parrot stories! I've done a lot of research on parrots but still come across behaviors that I didn't come across in my readings!
I'm a teacher, married and have two girls, 9 and 14. Ponyo, my Camelot Macaw, seems to be the most attached to me. Probably because I'm female and he is male. Yesterday my youngest daughter was talking and Ponyo STOPPED what he was doing and just stared at her. He then started bobbing is head up and down quickly with is pupils dilating over and over every time she spoke. It was really funny to see! He was DEFINATELY NOT upset but more INTERESTED in her voice. Funny thing is....he has heard her talk for the last 7months that we've owned him but now he is sooo interested in the sound of her voice that he stops whatever he is doing to listen....oh, and then he says "hello" "hello"....I wonder what this behavior is all about?? Anyone??
