Hello,
I am very sad because our Timneh African Gray flew away this morning. He was in our car and I drove to the post office to mail something, when I opened the door he did something he's never done before, he flew out. He circled around in the air above my wife and myself and we called him to come down, but he only paused for a moment and then flew off into the woods. The ground here (Bushkill, Pennsylvania) is full of snow and it is 22 degrees. We trudged through the snow for an hour calling after him to no avail. Now I'm afraid he flew off because he's scared or mad at me. He's 1-1/2 years old and just learning to fly after molting. We decided not to clip his feathers. He was in the "terrible twos" of parrot age, getting into trouble, tearing up anything his beak could find, leather chairs, ornate lamps, ballpoint pens, dishware, and sometimes I took a swat at him or yelled at him when he did those things. Now I feel guilty.
If anyone in the Bushkill, PA area reads this and sees a very cold parrot lurking outside, please take him in and make him warm and give him something to eat.
Thanks for listening.
