Pet Swap

Postby megan16 » Fri Jan 24, 2014 8:28 am

Got a weird or wacky parrot?

Can you manage three days with another's pet?

Would you be able to swap it for three days with another pet owner to see how you both get on?

We are looking for individuals, friends or families who would be willing to take part in a pet swap for a new entertainment series.

If you would like to take part, please get in touch!

Payment details: expenses paid

Well, my dear, then whoever thought of this had a terrible idea and needs to rethink the whole thing because no bird lover would agree to stressing out their parrot (which could end up plucking for the rest of its life) just to appear on TV. Oh, I am sure you will find plenty of people who would be willing to do it (just look at all those reality shows that portray people in such terrible light!) but no bird lovers! And the people who did would be completely shunned in the birdworld.

I agree with Pajarita, no bird lover will do it. Of course, you will have someone who is money hungry that would do it in a heart beat but our birds are members of our family. :senegal:

I would NEVER do this. This is a CRUEL idea for any animal!

It sounds like "wife swap" where wives switch houses, husbands, and kids. But at least with that show, there is one parent present for the kids to keep some normalcy and continuity of care for an innocent being.

What you are suggesting is switching pets with (I assume) no or little instructions. Because who would want to watch "The Pet Sitting Show." Even with lots of instructions, I would not allow my pet in someone's home I didn't know or allow someone around my pet or my home I have not met first. Switch with a friend? Most of my friends with animals have cats or dogs that know me. My friends know my bird. Boring.

Plus, most animals don't act out in a new environment or around new people the first week. Not until they are comfortable. I don't see you having much of a "show" because of this. Maybe with a dog or cat, but be prepared for a perch potato parrot. Lots of parrots are scared of cameras too. Have a great time filming a screaming or cowering parrot. No amount of cutting will make that look funny or less then abusive.

Reality shows like this have not done so well lately anyway, have you noticed? People don't buy "the set up" anymore and most of these shows have been kicked to the higher cable channels for the enjoyment of the perpetually unemployed, still live at home, 30-somethings with no future plans. In other words, no money. Oh! But I'm sure you can find advertising from check cashing places, disability lawyers, and bail bondsman.

Reality shows that show people/pets in their own environments do better. Like American Pickers, Deadliest Catch, and the animal shows where they help owners with their pets behavior. At least these are educational. But even shows like Duck Dynasty and Honey Booboo are doing better then any "set up" shows. How sad is that?

Not to mention...hasn't your show been done before? I seem to remember something...

Love,

Someone who is sick of the regurgitated crap on TV and might start watching again when creativity and originality comes back.

P.S. I am fully aware I'm being rude and am not sorry.

Kimberlyanne ---

I understand and share your feelings concerning your animals, but there is no valid reason to act as if you are better than anyone else and to belittle others. I find this entire post to be abhorrant at best, but I am also one of those unpardonable people with little to no money because my government does not think that I deserve more money. I receive a total of $700.00 per month to live on and pay all of my expenses with. That is what I receive for my disability check, hell it doesn't even cover the cost of my pain meds. I am also a Viet Nam vet, who worked and paid into the system my entire life until the pain I was living with made me a danger to myself and everyone around me. And despite the fact that I spent several years living on the streets as I could not support myself on occasion due to being unable to work consistently, I never asked anyone for one damn thing and never will, and I think that you really need to be happy for your fortunate circumstance and hope that you never have to be in these ones. I also think that you owe several thousand people that you have maligned for no better reason than your ego an apology.

"Nuff said by me.

This is actually weird but the way you are getting the people know about it more weird than that. I do not have any suggestion as I hardly come to know the actual suspicion behind that.
