Vet Time?

Postby schartza23 » Sat Feb 01, 2014 10:25 pm

I'm probably going to take my :sun: to the vet soon. I'm not sure what is happening with her. She is acting normal and going to the bathroom (which looks good), but I noticed that sometimes when she goes to the bathroom she grunts a little and while coming out it makes a squishy noise. I do have a boing in her cage which she has chewed up a little, and I herd that now I should take them out of my babies cages due to fabric issues. Has anyone ever had this happen?

I haven't but I saw pictures of surgery performed on two different birds that had an occlusion because of chewed up fibers only yesterday.

There was also a posting somewhere else about a macaw that died of PDD and the only symptom was that she was making a squawk and having trouble passing her poop so, please, take your bird to the vet asap.

Welcome!

Yes, I second the motion to get him checked out by an avian vet. How awful, that so many toys and perches have ingestable fibers that can turn deadly. I just took a soft bendable perch out of Skeeter's cage today due to it looking somewhat ragged. I'd left it in as he was familiar with it from his previous home, but I've been reading too many tragic stories about them.

Best wishes for you and your bird,

Weka

Now I've got to find a good avian vet :? . Hopefully I'll find a good one for my babies, because I can't seem to find a good doc for me...
