Hello from Montana. I have a couple of finches with attitudes (sometimes). I recently came home from an evening out only to discover that my cat had tipped over the bird cage and the birds were buzzing about. I managed to catch (1) in a towel, and had to chase the other into my office where she was hiding behind a laser printer. She finally allowed me to retrieve her and return her to the cage.

Sounds like a better quality cage may be in order.
