I've been searching for a nice, active parrot forum to join and happy to have stumbled onto this one this evening.
I am a 24 year old student from Reykjavik, the capital city of Iceland. I have great interest in parrots (of course) and just adopted a lovebird last Thursday. She is my first lovebird, a peach face + fischer's mix. Her birth was unexpected, but her previous owner took the time and handfed her so she is not afraid of being around people. She is going through puberty however so it's a bit of a difficult point to try to get to know her as she tends to defend her cage and attack any unknown visitors who poke around in it (aka me). I think she may have developed a fear of hands. She has a beak, and she is NOT afraid to use it
This will be something I'll be working with the next few days/weeks, these past few days I've been spending limited time handling her, and mostly let her adjust to her new home, which is going great. She is eating and drinking and preening like she's never been happier! So i'll be starting her training this week and hopefully we'll get through this biting phase. I'm sure we'll be best of friends soon enough 
I've had two cockatiels and a budgie in the past, so this lovie is a new type for me and therefore great to have a forum to read through or ask around when in doubt about something... or when I have time to kill and need something fun to read of course!
