Hello from the Middle East

Postby Muzafari » Sat Mar 22, 2014 4:12 am

Hi Everybody ! I am a parrot owner from Bahrain, I have a one year old female Indian Ringneck :irn: and just recently bought a Senegal Parrot :senegal: yesterday.

The Indian Ringneck :irn: was my first parrot and I had it since she was 3 months old, shes pretty healthy and playful but gets upset (sometimes bites when shes upset/frustrated) when I get busy with work and tend to pay less attention to her, although she slowly seems to get along with me again after some time when i try to make it up to her, I'v recently bought some toys for her to occupy her self with when I am not around.

I was in the market/bazar yesterday and bought a Senegal parrot :senegal: which really fancied me although it was untamed, the seller told me she was 5 months old, unfortunately after coming home I came to find out that senegal parrots which have already developed the yellow piercing glow around their iris are mature senegal's and are more than 2 years old. After further reading and observation of the bird I think shes not 100% healthy or she might be afraid of her new environment Im not pretty sure.

I am going to take her to the Vet tomorrow and see if shes OK or not. although she is eating her food (dried fruits, nuts and some seeds) in small amounts.

Other than that I hope this forum is an active place and we all can share our experiences and knowledge on these beautiful creatures.

:)

Thanks mate, I just went to the Vet this morning, he had a quick look at it and said that the bird looks fine there isn't any signs of disease or illness, he gave me some dark liquid supplement and he said that I can give this to the bird on every alternate day for about a week or so, apparently its vitamins, proteins and other stuff which I add to his water. The label said "PROMOTOR".
