New to Parrots

Postby Nuri » Sun Apr 06, 2014 4:53 pm

Hello! My name is Nuri and I'm a new parrot owner. I've always been fascinated by birds, and while I've had a few in the past, none have been as interesting or demanding as owning my green-cheeked, Chester. (chickens, geese, finches)

:gcc:

Chester keeps me busy, and always learning. Unfortunately I don't know much about him, he was a stray with no chip. Still, the vet says he's healthy and thats all that matters in the end. :)

Welcome. Yes, parrots are completely different than the other birds you have experience with but that's because, although they are all under the class Aves, they all belong to different orders, the finches are passeriformes, chickens are galliformes, and geese are anseriformes while parrots are psittaciformes. And, if you take into consideration that after the 'orders', you have the family, the genus and lastly the species, it's easy to understand why they are so different from parrots. But, don't worry, you'll learn.
