Thanks for the information about getting ready for the trips they were really helpful. I do have another question I noticed that he will make a hissing noise some times when he is relaxing and scratching his beak or head. I was wondering what this could mean since I didnt real see any information on this and the that hissing would usually indicate aggression.

I've never heard a GCC hiss... Tiels hiss when angry but I can't think of any other parrot that does it.

Although she normally growls when she is po'ed, Kookooloo does occasionally hiss instead.

I see thanks for the information. I may have another problem and I am not sure if I should take him to the vet. I woke up this morning and noticed one of his long tail feathers on the ground. I am not sure if this is part of the molting process since he is a little over 6 months old.

It sort of depends on the feathers condition. Does it look chewed up and look at the shaft of the feather, does it have a brownish spot on it near the end? Maybe it would be easier to post a picture of it so that we can see its condition.

My birds already started molting (it starts earlier and earlier each year due to global warming) so it might be that but, at 6 months of age, he should be getting his juvenile molt and, as far as I know, it only involves contours and some down but not primaries, secondaries or terciaries.

Feather looks good for what I can see, Is the shaft of the feather where it goes into the follicle as clean or clear as the rest of it? If so then for whatever reason it is part of the molt.

My GCC acted pretty much the same for 2 days then after building a little trust he let me rub him and he stopped biting. It has been almost 2 weeks of having him now and he totally trust me( still learning his strength LOL). He is two months old.
