New to the form and being a parront

Postby Avara Jade » Thu Jun 12, 2014 11:21 pm

Hello everyone!
I'm so glad to be on this forum! Over the last 4 (almost 5) years I've used theparrotforum as a large part of my pre-parrot owner research. I've read so many of the posts its ridiculous! I'm so exited to be part of this community! :D

Two months ago I got my first GCC, Aven! :D He is everything and more then I ever dreamed I would have in a parrot companion. It's amazing how smart he is. I had him "potty" trained on the second day, shorty after he was target trained, and 2 days ago I trained him to lay on his back in my hand!
There is one thing that was a pleasant surprise, his talking! After the research I'd done on GCC's, I had come to expect that they weren't talkers. Yet he was trying to talk only a week or so after I got him, and then was clearly saying "baby boy", "baby bird", "I love...(just got the you a couple days ago)", and "Hello". Have any of you had your GCC talk so soon? (he was only 2 and a half months old when I got him)

Haha! I now totally get what people mean when they say these little guys a "cheeky"! Right now he keeps going between chasing his balls off my desk, and jumping on the computer keys . It doesn't matter what I'm doing, he will find a way to make it ridiculous. If anyone turns on a song he likes, he'll dance and "sing" along to it for hours on end, ( :gcc: => "ok everyone, squak along to the music..") it's enough to bring everyone who can her or see him into tears of laughter.

So far he has eaten all his good birddy food , so it's been easy to have him eating a healthy diet.

Thank you so much for reading my long post! (I'm terminally ill with parrot fever so... ;) )
Once again, we are so glade to "be here" with you guys:)
