Hi Nahaseer from Dubai

Postby nahaseer » Fri Jul 11, 2014 11:56 am

hi,

my name is nahaseer. i have got a Male African Grey for a while and enjoys his reasonably large cage. He has started to copy sounds of various family members and gets a health checkup every 6 months (approx).

he is a very friendly and can feel it from the way he reacts to my calls. however, for some reason there is a fear built inside me to which i am unable to take in my hands. when his feathers are clipped i let him out of the cage and he goes back in own his own when he is tried.

maybe i am not used to having pets in the family from childhood.. i am in search of Hyacinth macaw and female partner for grey... but always think to myself "I am unable to play with Grey and I am looking around for more"... :gray:

any help :)

regards
nahaseer

Actually this should be in a new topic all its own, but I understand that being new you may not have known how to do this. So I will try to find out how to move it to its own posting. I do want to say welcome and thanks for coming and asking questions. We will do our best to help you.
Fear is a hard thing to deal with, especially when it is on a forum, I don't know how to approach this, but I am willing to try. Do you know why you are afraid?
I mean does the bird do something that bothers you when you try to get near it, or try to touch it?
I know that I would advise against getting a new bird until you can control this fear a little better as it would not be fair to them.
I am trying to figure out some things so please excuse the questions. Is there anyone else in your family that is able to handle your bird? also, just to make communication easier does your Grey have a name that I can use? If there is some one that helps you with your bird would they be willing to help us with this?
