Looking for home for a green cheek conure

Postby gracie » Sat Jul 19, 2014 5:31 am

Hi,
I live in L ondon and looking for an empathic home for a 4 year old :gcc: green cheek named Mr Blue. His mate Marti flew Way on 27th June and they were very close. Does anyone have a bird that they think would like a companion? Mr Blue is tame and likes human company as well as bird company. He likes his cage but is used to flying free with his cage open. Thank you. Kaye

Hi Gracie,
I am new to the forum and very far from London. I just wanted to say how sorry I feel about Marti and wish you the best in finding a new home for Mr. Blue.

Welcome gracie and Mr. Blue. I am sorry to hear about Marti. Is Mr. Blue going to lose a mate and a home at the same time? Poor birdy! But it is always hard to decide how best to help a bereft bird. I hope you find a good solution.

Thank you, Harpmaker, for broaching the one concern that I really had as I wasn't sure how to do it. While it must be hard on the owner, losing one bird, I could not figure out the reasoning for rehoming the second as it is just as hard on Mr. Blue, losing his mate and then to lose his home too! I just, was speechless and don't understand, it has me worried a lot.

Well, personally, I don't think that rehoming a bird is a bad thing if we find them a better home that the one we can offer it. It might be that the OP realized that properly caring for parrots is something that is beyond his/her capabilities or that his/her circumstances have changed. In any case, let's give the OP the benefit of the doubt, we really do not know enough to judge.

Not judging or even saying that it is wrong thing to do. Just speechless because of how much it affected me when Kookooloo flew, even though I recovered her. And because of those feelings ,I don't understand and would like to. That is why I thanked Harpmaker for bring it up, I didn't know howto and was pretty certain that I would say it wrong. Guess I still said it wrong. I mean no disrespect by it. I just somehow can't get my mind around this. I would really love to get this out of my mind as it is driving me nuts. And yes, I know that this is totally my failing.
