Thanks everyone for the welcome,
My bird is very young only four months for some reason he/she has started to be very scared of humans and is being very skittish,

But by reading some of the posts on here I had Rio flying down to me and also to my wife, great progress for one day,

Also I have we have noticed that when Rio thinks we are not around he starts talking and some times very clearly is Rio about the right age to start talking or could he /she be older Rio did come with a home printed birth certificate ? from a local breeder,

Sorry for all the questions so soon, :(

Regards

Rob and Rio.

Slow down some because you are making me run. This is not good and is the reason for your baby getting skittish, spend time on bonding and socialization instead of training for the next month or so get to know your bird and let it get to know you and start building a relationship based on mutual respect and trust. You have gone the wrong way and now your bird doesn't trust you any more.

Sorry Wolf should of said I have had Rio a month,

And by flying down to us I did mean he is let out and after a while he landed on my back,
and then flew to my wife and sat on her shoulder then went to his cage,

But will take note of what you said "running before I can walk," We do sit and chat to him and let him see us eat our meals as he is in the same room,

It all started last week I was away for a week and my two grown up daughters looked after Rio for the week well a few days actually could this have caused him to reject us,

Regards Rob and Rio.

If they didn't take any time with him, yes, this could easily be the reason or at least a major factor. IRN's are great birds , but you must always keep your dinner dates with them or they get all huffy and go off in a tiff. TRANSLATION; If you don't keep up on the socialization part of your relationship with them, especially when they are young and/ or new to you, they tend to revert to their more natural wild state very quickly and easily.
Also instead of just letting him watch you eat, share with him. The sharing of food is great flock behavior. You don't actually have to give him what you are eating or even want to unless it is bird safe and unseasoned, but you do want it to appear that you are. All it takes is a small dish of food for him that you can hand him a piece of while you eat.

Welcome to the forum. Babies need a lot of love and hours and hours of attention (as well as fresh soft food always available) so, please, keep that in mind. Also, unless you have dinner when the sun is still out, you might want to reconsider his light schedule as they need to follow a bird one (think of chickens, up with sunrise, to bed with sunset). And, yes, eating with them is a great way of bonding but it's always better to do it in the morning because that's when they are hungriest and our best opportunity to teach them to eat produce (which they need to do every single day).
