Smile, Dubai says hi

Postby TGH_Hassan » Thu Aug 07, 2014 3:17 pm

Hello,
My name is Hassan and I'm 14 (not like "those" guys :? ). Anyways off topic, I own a male :greycockatiel: and I used to own a :budgie: and 2 :swaying: but they died. I plan on getting a red-bellied Parrot or Senegal parrot soon so I am doing some research so some information would help.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, Hassan and flock! You have come to the right place. We have both Senegal and Red-Bellied Parrot owners here. What kind of information are you looking for?

Enjoy your stay!

Thanks for all the warm greeting!
I would like to know what is their most preferred toys: chewing hanging or forging ( though I should use all of them), how to tell if there molting cause I don't even know when my tiel molts , how much they weigh every 6 months, and how to introduce them to new food.
Thanks!

For toys, it depends on the bird. Try everything and see what they play with. Try again in a few months, because they change their minds.

When my bird molts I start seeing down feathers around the cage. Then pin feathers on the head as the new ones come in. I see a few larger feathers, but not many.

Unless your bird is too fat or skinny, they should always weigh about the same. A sudden weight loss is often the first sign of illness in birds, so daily weight checks are a good idea.

Introduce new food by eating (or pretending to eat) it yourself. Make a big deal about how good it is, and when they come close, offer some. The Parrot Wizard has a video at http://trainedparrot.com/New_Foods/
