She was 280 grams when she came into the rescue. I think she is down to 230 something now, which given her lack of flying muscle tone, is probably pretty good.
So, the ferret cage is powder coated. It has very strong bars, the bars are spaced well, they are all vertical bars, but Tanya doesn't climb anyhow.
The front has 2 big doors, meaning that the entire front opens up. This will be good for access. She is going to have a 2" thick foam pad at the bottom of the cage, so this will make it easier to get it in and out for changing the covers.
Yes, it sounds absolutely perfect for her! But, even though she can't climb what with her bad feet and all, do try to put ramps in there because climbing up and down is part of their natural behaviors and I am sure the ability to do it will enrich her life immensely after not been able to do it for years and years.
It was already dark when we got home. She's talking a while to settle down. She regurgitates for me. I guess she had never done that before. I'll keep an eye on that. I'll start her own thread for her tomorrow.
I also have a possible date of birth for Tanya of October 1, 1990. That was listed as her date of birth on some old paperwork. No real way to know if it's accurate.
YAAAAAYYYYY!!!! I remember yesterday that you said she was coming home on 12/2 and woke up this morning hoping to find a posting from you about this - and I did ! So she is only 25 and in such bad shape, poor, poor thing! But, in a way, it's good news because the younger she is, the better the chances that she can get better!
