Actually, Pajarita, I think that it would make a wonderful topic as everyone should learn how to do this in such a way that their bird is not stressed by it, just as a safety concern.

Welcome to the forum, also try un hulled nuts when you give him treats. I know that sunflower seeds are fatty but a few hulled seeds might do the trick in getting him to warm up to you. I have a GCC and he will jump on to my finger to come out. so just relax and work with him and he will come around. And they do love their apple. mine will jump on the bowl before I even but it in the cage we have a word we use on this forum a lot PATIENCEIt's one that works very well. Goo luck with your little one :gcc: :jenday:

Once again I want to thank those people who have responded to my calls for advice. I am doing as you say. Archie now takes treats from my fingers through the open door of the cage. He is still timid though and takes a little while to approach the treats. But he comes and eats from my hand and that is great. I think the next thing I will try will be to tempt him to approach the front opening of the cage to accept a treat. I somehow don't think he will step up on my finger for a while yet. But that's OK. I am enjoying working with him and look forward to having him feel comfortable when handled. Once again thank you.
