My flock

Hi people,

Let me introduce u all to my small flock. We all live in The Netherland, Europe.
Meet Poinky, my green cheek conure.

Meet Rasta, my Brown throat conure.

Meet Dreadlock, my sun conure.

Poinky is the smallest, but he is the boss. Rasta his only and best friend is Poinky.
Dreadlock is the best aviator of the 3 and will outfly any human pilot. He can take off like a helicopter or like a fighter jet. He lands and takes off from a moving object, and he will do it in dusk/dawn when his visibilitY (still is) poor. If he doesnt have the runway in sight before decision altitude he will make a go-around and/or go back/divert. He will fly so close to the wall/floor/ceiling/me that his wings makes contact. He does 360´s in the air, makes tight manoeuvres, flyies through small spaces. He also likes to show-off and changes flightroute inflight. In wet conditions he also performs well. He is becomming quite an expert.
All 3 can fly and have accepted eachother (and me) even though it's like a soap here everyday again.
For me personally a parrot is unique is quite some ways. Not only in its intelligence and ability to mimmic our language, but most of all the beauty of flight.
It´s all about the laws of gravity. It´s a gift to fly!

Welcome! Your birds are beautiful and sound like they're a lot of fun! Lucky birds to have an owner that appreciates their ability to fly so much

Thank u.
Ever since I was a child I liked and still love to fly, so my fascination for these animals is not a coincidense.
The thing that really attracted my attention on this forum is the indoor flighttraining sections. There is not alot of information/experience in this field in Holland, so I have to look elsewhere for this information.

Beautiful birds. You don't see very many brown-throated conures around -- although there's one at the pet store near me who says "hello" in his scratchy little conure voice when I walk up to his cage :P

It's not a coincidense either that i have a brown throat conure in my flock. I have known these beautifull little creatures since i was born as i come from the ABC islands. I still can remember seeing them in small flocks flying in the blue skies, constantly communicating with eachother. I have also seen macaws and amazones on the islands. On Bonaire there is an amazonepopulation of about 800 wild parrots.
Pictures of these amazones u can see on this link http://bonairebirding.smugmug.com/Hobbies/Yellow-shouldered-Yellow/2259476_Rquof#117966362_pi7oC

Beautiful! It would be amazing to live in an area where these birds are found in the wild. I would just spend hours outside watching them. There's so much to learn by observing our beloved parrot species in a natural environment in their flocks.
