Hi!

Im from the U.S., and I hope to get a budgie soon! I currently own six chickens, a dog, two cats, and an aquarium full of fish. I can't wait to start posting on this forum! :budgie: :hatched:

Welcome aboard, Alfie! You don't have to actually own a parrot to post here. If you want advice about parrot-proofing your house, which budgies are likely to be healthiest, or anything vaguely parrot-related, sing out. Chances are someone here has experience. Enjoy your stay!

Also, please consider getting two budgies instead of one... life is too lonely and depressing for a single little guy.

Ok! and thanks. I'm worried two would be too loud, and my mom might make me get rid of them. If I couldn't get two, should I just not get one at all? And would it make a difference if I just got one and spent a lot of time with him?

Budgies are not loud at all. The problem with them (not that it bothers me but it seems to bother other people) is that they chatter almost constantly and whether you have one or two doesn't really make that big a difference because they do it even when they are by themselves and, sometimes, even more.

Now, some people do have a single budgie thinking that their company is enough but how could it be? These birds were meant to have their entire family around them all their lives, from birth to the day they die AND to have a wife or husband right next to them 24/7/365. No person can do that! And they are SOOOOO cute when they are together!

Ok! and thanks again. I don't think I would mind the chatter at all; I'm used to having an aquarium in my room and it's always making little burbling noises. Budgies hopefully wouldn't be much worse. Now I need to find a cage and then I'm all set to get Budgies!

Ha Ha Your budgies will probably bubble too.

My daughter used to have a Quaker. Every time I went to the sink he would drip drip.
