No worries on either opinion and I welcome opposing views. I am handling this situation with a whole lot of faith and prayer. One day at a time. My husband surprisingly got bitten twice today from our new lil guy. This really surprised me even more than my own injuries! I mimic all of his sounds which he seems to find amusing and he is showing signs of curiosity toward me. No matter what the outcome I cherish any and all advice and opinions. No matter if they are both males I refuse to give up on this incredibly amazing bird that seemed to have chosen my husband. We have a month to figure this out or sentence him to a life in solitary confinement behind bars. Though this may sound dramatic it is the truth. I care about his crazy lil self! With faith anything is possible. I cherish any and all advice and comments. They can oppose. I still treasure the thoughts and the time taken to reply to this desperate to make friends with a wild thing birdie named Zazu!!!

Also want to add that my baby Senegal is extremely bonded to both my husband and myself. He doesn't seem to mind that there is a new life in our home although when we have them on the same perch and of course supervised my lil Mercy is trying to initiate a sword fight with the beak. He knows what "be nice, only kisses" means and he backs off. I don't presume to defy all odds and yet want to keep my hope that although my intention is not that they will become bff.s I do hope and pray that they will simply accept one another. We will know more within the next couple of weeks than we know now. It is clear as I have mentioned and observed that these are exceptionally intentional and brilliant creatures. It does not seem to me as though Mercy is jealous, but does seems to be territorial as would be expected of his perch, his everything. We are going out of our way to assure Mercy that he has not lost his position in our flock family. He's still a love bug so far. I do cherish any and all opinions. Thank you so very much

Also he is not sexed so we really are not positive he is male. I am going by my own research on the deep V in his chest and assuming this is a male. One thing I have found amazing is the curiosity I see in him when I mimic his cool sounds. What a great whistler he is! He also seems to have mimicked other birds like doves and only God know what other sounds he has learned in his lifetime. He has softened his "evil eye" in just 3 days. Literally his eyes would turn almost sideways and then the pinning and shaking has slowed way down as we try to fill his love cup. I'm hoping that although somehow he decided to revert to being wild we can prove to him that all humans don't just give up. We are committed to him..Just don't want my Mercy to get hurt in any way during the process. Yes I am concerned about the well being of all 4 of us, this lil creature needs real love that is not easily dissuaded. I cannot believe how devoted I feel toward him even though he drew blood on me! It is clear to me that he has not been allowed to just be a bird. Not blaming anyone. Just observing behavior. It is not random that he would shake in fear for no reason. Somehow they just know something is wrong when they are caged 24/7. That is in his past and will remain in his past while we are on the scene. The clipping was already done before me. At this point it is for his best and our best as we adjust to adding him to our family. Part of the outside perch allows him to go up high above our heads. We allow that since we know that most birds prefer to be as high as possible. Then we just talk sweetly to him and he flaps his wings and leans down. I wish I could go to a school and share what I have seen in such a short time. His shaking tells me that although he likes his newfound freedom he is more afraid than we could possibly be. I know that I am carrying on and don't mean to. I'm falling for him even though I am respectfully afraid of his chomp grip hold on bite!!!!

Oh, don't worry about 'carrying on', we are all bird lovers here and love rambling stories about birds!

I know that you are committed, that you are already in love with him (the small green V is, in my personal opinion and experience, a definite sign of him been a male), and that you want to help him but you have to take into consideration what would be the best situation for him and that might very well be a household where he is the only 'macho guy'. Senegals don't seem to mind other birds as long as the human doesn't pay a whole lot of attention to them but that would not happen in a household where there are only two and they were not raised together. And, trust me when I tell you that, although it seems that way sometimes, ours are not the only 'good homes' for them. If you decide not to keep him, I am sure you can help find him a good home where he could be number one - or, better still, one where there would be a female for him. Prayers, faith, work and time do perform miracles but there is only so much you can do to change a bird's natural temperament. Having said that, I hope from the bottom of my heart that I am wrong and that you do get your miracle!
