New Flock Arriving!

Hello everybody, I'm just flying in here and thought I'd throw in an introduction of me and my beauties! I have one Orange Winged Amazon, one African Gray and two Canaries. <3

My Amazon is a rescued bird which we bought ten years ago after abuse from his previous home, he is now safely in my care and is such a beautiful bird, here is my beauty:



Unfortunately I do not have a picture of my other birds on this computer but I'll make sure to scan and show my other babies!

Oh and as for me, I'm their flock leader - Lisa! <3

sure is a lovely bird how long did it take you till he felt safe with you?

He's still very timid, but training with him now. It's taken me five years to get him comfortable with me feeding him daily and taking treats. However if I ever put a hat on he gets terrified so I've made sure nobody wears a hat in our front room.

When we first got him he had no feathers and when we went to an avian vet with him it was shown he had suffered burning and had cuts not caused by himself. During the first year of us having him we were very careful around him so he didn't view us as a fear.

It's taken me 5 years to strike up the bond I have with him now and feel he is ready to take it one step further and not be afraid of my hand near him any more

Wow, he's had quite a hard life prior to meeting you .

Sounds like you're doing great work with him! He's so lucky to have found somebody that has the patience to give him the special care that he needs .

How long have you had him? You said you bought him 10 years ago but it's taken you 5 years for him to be comfortable with you. Did you work with him only during the past 5 years? I'm just interested in the time that it's taken such an abused bird to start trusting again.
