Yep, that's what they say. If you see a gray edge (sometimes it's very, very thin and you have to look when the feathers are still new, otherwise, the edge is 'worn out') on the tail undercoverts (you know which ones these are, right? the still longish but a bit shorterr than the rectrices -these are the long tail feathers- red feathers that grow on the underside of the tail and cover the 'beginning' of the long ones), it's a girl. And, I have to say, it has worked with all five Congos (they say it doesn't work with Timnehs) I've had under my care.
