A warm hello!

Postby Water » Tue Jan 27, 2015 4:17 am

Hi everyone, I just joined. Hope all of you are doing great, along with your parrot-kids! Well, actually I have been browsing this site for quite some time before finally joining. I have got great tips to handle my Alexandrine, on here. She is about 5 (I actually forgot the year she came in), doing great. Could be really noisy, sometimes. No formal training given, but she doesn't bite or behave badly, much. Thankfully, just once I had to take her to the vet. So far.
Here's hoping to talk about our Mithoo more, here, and would love to talk to all of you too!

Haha, Wolf! Lurking! Well-put!
And you mean the name of my Alex? Mithoo! It's a common name given to parrots here.

I must apologise as I did not know that Mithoo was his name. I don't know anything about the language(es) spoken in India.

Welcome, Water and Mithoo! Is Mithoo the same as Mithu, meaning 'sweet'?

Hiya Pajarita! Thanks! Yeah, Mithoo is the same as Mithu. It is kinda a variation of the word "meetha" or "meethi", which mean "sweet", in the Hindi language.

Welcome to the forum! Looking forward to hearing about you and your parrot!

I speak Urdu (language very similar to Hindi), and I never made the connection between the words. This explains why my dad started saying "Sweetie" to our new parrots when I warned him Fajr might get jealous if he used "Mitthu" for them as well. (Fajr uses "mitthu" as his flock call)

Hi S, I know about Urdu. It originated in India itself! Where are you from? And that's a great grand name for a parrot! Love it. Hope to talk to you more.
