How could you forget who has the DYH. :amazon: Rambo looks just like the character.

Rambo is not a pet. He is a being in his own right. He is equivalent to a 5 year old kid. He is known in 2 counties. We are known as Rambo's family.

My mother had hospice. Over the years she had many ambulance rides from EMS in two counties.
Rambo greeted the Hospice ladies at the door with the dogs. Rambo has an extra instinct. On my mother's really bad days he stayed with her. I had to bring him food and water when I served Mom. When EMS arrived, Rambo would be sitting with Mom.

He is not a pet. He is a being. Read back in the Rambo & Myrtle thread.

Shane, be careful about the 'sand' perches. I don't know what kind you have (there are many: concrete, sand, pediperch, etc) but the real goods ones are the Safety Pumice Perch which are the ones that are not only not even (meaning, not a perfect tube from beginning to end) but also have a smooth side both on top and underneath so only the sides (where the tips of the claws would rest when the bird perches) are rough. Like these: http://www.petsolutions.com/C/Bird-Perc ... rches.aspx

PS: Try the carrots different ways: cooked and sliced, cooked and diced, raw and sliced, raw and grated (fine and coarse), raw in little sticks or whole and stuck between two bars (my budgies only eat them if I put them between the bars as if they were a perch). And try sweet potatoes, they are VERY good for them and they all love them.

Thanks for the advice pajarita i have 1 pumice perch and 2 that look like they could be either sand or grit and a ladder where the 3 runs are the same,do you think he will be ok with them.
I will try what you said about carrots it seems he do's not like veg but i will keep trying different ones,i know he likes peas. I have just tried him with some mealworms he is not too sure about them, but loves blueberrys. thanks once again for your advice

I really don't suggest the mealworms, and my primary reason is that they are much too high in fats for your bird. It has been a while but I looked into them for my birds, but vetoed them first because of the high fat content and secondly your Amazon is a herbivore which means that although it might eat one on occasion its digestive system is not set up for animal proteins.

I used to toss my left over parrot food out for the wild birds, we also have feeders for them, but then there are some free range chickens that took up primary residence here so that they could get the parrot food that I toss, so now I get free eggs.
