Hello

Postby LovebirdMacaw » Tue Apr 07, 2015 8:26 pm

My name is Connie and I currently own my beautiful 2 year old (he thinks he's King of the House) black mask lovebird named Alistair. I got him two years ago and to this day I couldn't imagine my life without his chirps and whistles and the joy he brings me and to my home. :) he can be nippy sometimes but overall he doesn't truly bite unless he's extremely frightened. I do not have my macaw yet because it hasn't been weaned yet. I am going to name it Loki for a boy and Aurora for a girl. The bird will be a blue and gold macaw who I will love and cherish for all my life and it's. About me is a little more difficult. I'm easy going very open and I love animals. All of them. Every single one haha. I love to make new friends and I'm always out to learn about my pets and make their life better. I hope to make many new friends and share me and my wonderful families experiences :)

Welcome to the forum.

You are doing a big transition from Love Bird to Macaw but getting the Macaw as a baby should be easier.

We prefer to rescue or take in rehomes.

Thank you for the warm welcome. :) I know from mini to giant haha! But I've always wanted a large parrot and I'm getting my baby as a baby. He was actually born on April 1. :hatching:

I bought 2 ferrets not knowing that there were rescues available. Then came the rescued cats who came in knowing that the house really belonged to the ferrets and they could only stay if they respected that the ferrets were in charge. My son brought home a puppy he found on the side of the road. Not knowing how I was going to manage, I gave the puppy and large towel and put his toys on it. He claimed the towel as his little part of the house and respected that his was only there because the ferrets and cats alowed him.
By the time Rambo came along my ferrets were gone. Rambo came into a house who's residence were mature and well settled. He was the only bird and walked between the cats and dogs. The situation just did not work the same. Giving the others respect would probably cause his death so he gave them attitude. He taught them that he was the dominant one and so it is.

Okay. I can't remember where I was going with this but the post did not disappear so I am going to post it anyway.
