I agree. Perfect situation for aviary birds so they are happy and gregarious with the humans they trust. I've had budgies, tiels and lovies in flock that were also quite amiable with me even though I never even tried to tame them or anything - and we have Liz's tiels right here as another example. But you can't extrapolate your experience to keeping a single bird. I am sure there are exceptions, of course. Tiels are not really cuddly but I've known of some that were so there must also be some rock pebblers that remain cuddly as they get older. But the point is that, when it comes to specific expectations of a pet bird, one should not go with the exception but with the rule. The alternative is too dangerous for the bird because people that are disappointed in their only bird tend to rehome it.
