Thank you for the information. I will make some inquiries into a suitable female and go from there.

I will put my obsession for a Senegal on the backburner as well.

I don't have plets, the ones that have come through my house have always been rehomed so I have no real personal experience with them but I correspond with a number of people and, in two different occasions (two different homes), there was aggression on the part of the female toward the male. In both occasions, the female was much younger than the male, both were in their first 'full blown' season and had no nest so, if I were you, I would adopt an adult female of a few years and give them a nest during the breeding season. And, don't forget to quarantine!

Parrotlets can be a handful, I cringe when they are suggested as a beginners bird. Then again my experience has left me a bit put off.
Tater Tot will be 2 in a few weeks, I was thinking of looking for a female at least that age or maybe a year or so older. Regardless I follow a 30 day QT minimum, keeping the newbie with my sister who does not have birds.

Indeed they are a handful and you are 100% right that they should not be considered beginner's birds! Great on the quarantine and age you decided on!

My parrotlet came with the name Paquita, which I am fairly sure means little something, possibly girl. But because of the coloration of this particular bird it did not look like a female and while researching and eventually getting a DNA testing done I chose the name Skeeter for if it proved to be a male. I chose this name because of it sounding similar and because of the size of the bird as it isn't much bigger than a skeeter. She proved to be a girl.

Parrotlets are something else for sure LOL They can be very bossy and demanding. I think the tiny zon attitude is part of what makes them so endearing.
Tater has about a 30 word vocabulary and most of it is quite clear. He also routinely mimics the conures. Its quite noisy in our bird room.

Paquita is 10 years old, I recently found that out but I have only had her for a year. I have yet to hear her speak but she is fascinating none the less, she is adorable despite the buzz saw on the front of her face. I am glad that she is part of my life.

I agree, despite those buzz saws, they are wonderful to have around.
