No, it's just the feminine version of the masculine nickname but even the men's name has lost its original meaning of Pater Comunitatis and is now just a nickname for whoever is called Francisco (Pancho is another nickname for them, too). St. Francis was called that because all 'superiors' in Catholic religious orders are called Father or Mother even when the others are called brothers or sisters.
