Hello From California!

Postby Crazybirdlady76 » Fri May 29, 2015 10:45 pm

Hi all
Just joined the group. First group I ever joined. I guess I am a newbie.
I share my home with a 1 year old Red Belly named Zuri.
I also just brought home a rehomed 2 year old Senegal.
(Name to be determined when DNA test comes back.)
I grew up with birds. My father always had a parakeet over the years and thay all did amazing things and loved him to pieces. They never thought much of us rambunctious girls though. Ha! Any who I'm a bit of a bird nerd and would love to chat with others like me who love and appreciate the loud, messy and fabulous feathered species!!

Hi and welcome to the forum, I hope that you enjoy it here. Our people are as diverse in their personalities as are our birds, no two are alike. I would love to see pictures of your birds. Just so you know Senegals are sexually dimorphic, which is a 25 cent word that means that you can tell the male and female apart by looking at them. Easiest way to share how is that the v formed by the vest is short on the male and he has no green feathers in his undertail coverts also the male tends to perch more upright while the female kind of hunkers down when perching.
Are your bird clipped or not? I don't clip mine and get a real kick out of it when they come flying or walking over to see me just because they want to.
I cook for my birds, I rarely cook for anyone else but I cook for them. I feed them a mixture of cooked whole grains, mixed vegetables and legumes as well as giving them fresh veggies, fruit and leafy greens. I also feed them a seed mix, but only for dinner. What do you feed your birds?
