hello everybody!

Postby Pandoradolls » Thu Jun 18, 2015 3:24 am

hi everyone, i'm Pandoradolls, all the way from belgium. In daily life i am a prosthesist and i enjoy making fantasy costumes when i have the time. I have owned a lovely lutino cockatiel named Ina and a bratty blue buggy named Peanut in the past, i really enjoyed living with my birdies but sadly they have both passed on of old age. after living without feathery friends for a few years and with a move in foresight i am planning on getting one or perhaps two feathered buddies again. I'm here to learn more about the things i need to keep in mind when building a bird friendly living space and picking the right bird to fit our lifestyle.

Welcome to the forum.
How on earth could you survive after your birdies were gone and not get another?
Most of us do rescues. There are so many who need help that we go that way.
The best way to choose a bird is to volunteer at a rescue. You can not only decide what kind you want but also see the personalities.
We all prefer that you do the above and not buy from a breeder or pet shop. There are too many birds who are neglected or abused without breeders putting more in the world. It would be like getting a pet from the Sweetie cockatiel passed I looked on craigslist and rescue sights for another. There are so many who need help that I now have 15 cockatiels. My daughter picked up the last rescue (he chewed off his leg when it got infected and his human would not spend the money at the vet). I am 4 states away so my daughter picked him up. I have not seen him yet but she is sending me videos.
Any way you will like it here. We tell stories of what our birds are doing and the personalities they have. To me they feel like kids in my neighborhood.
I look forward to hearing more from you.
