Thank you, Wolf! It's nice to know for sure (or as for sure as I can get without a DNA test)

The clicking means contentment. He does look very intelligent. Just like kids, watch out for the smart ones. They seem to find more stuff to get into.

I can't tell if it's a male or a female because I can't see its front clearly (the picture needs to be taken from the same height he is perching and showing a full front) but whatever it is, it's a beautiful bird!

Don't put his cage on the floor, it stresses them out something terrible (grounded birds are dead birds in the wild).

It seems to me that the hanging upside down is something birds that spend too much time in a small cage do because all the birds that did it when they first came in stopped and never did it again.

Great on the better diet effort! Just make sure he is getting organic on the items on the 'dirtiest' list. And yes, sennies do purr :D

That is where I said that a frontal view of him on a perch would clinch what I think I am seeing.

Are there, by chance any numbers turned sideways as well, usually a two digit number

He's doing better today. Once I got him in the big cage, he picked a spot and didn't move far from it. This morning, he's moving around way more and getting food from his bowl instead of just my fingers. We tried a few new things again this morning, but he seems to prefer the pea pods over everything else still. Followed by carrot slices and then honeydew melon. He's exploring a little more today, and fiddling with his toys. I fed him and my kids breakfast at the same time today (them first, then him) and he would take a piece of food out of his bowl, carry it to the side of the cage closest to the dining room table, then eat. He'd chirp and click at them between pieces of food. Hoping that's a good sign. If it is, I'll just keep feeding them all at the same time so they can eat together. He seems particularly taken with my middle child, and she adores him too. She will bring me a carrot from the fridge and ask if she can share with Bandit. I'll cut half up and she'll stand a foot away from the cage after I give him his carrot, and they snack together. I am trying to make sure we don't over feed him either though.

I only buy organic from the dirty dozen for us, and if I wouldn't feed it to my kids then I won't feed it to my bird either ;) thank you for making sure though! I really appreciate all the help from you guys!

I don't think any numbers were sideways, but there was one side of the band I was having trouble getting him to let me look at.

Still looks like a male to me but the frontal needs to be more upright, we are trying to get a good view of the v of the birds vest. Where the v ends in proportion to the legs is what tells if it is a male or female.
Feeding the bird at the same time as the humans is a good move on your part as not only is it a social event it is also a bonding activity, if you are a parrot. Also if you are feeding fresh produce you don't need to worry about over feeding the bird, the same is true for the gloop, neither of them have a tendency to make a bird gain an excessive amount of weight.

Does one of these work? He leans so far forward when I try to take his picture, I had to tempt him with an almond. Adding almonds to his list of favorites! In small portions.

I think that Pajarita will find at least one of them satisfactory. I still hold with my statement that this is a male.
